On that note, I've found that the late great Larry King's approach to leading engagements resonate quite nicely with a UX frame of mind.

Be passionate
Have humor
Know what you're talking about
Carry a chip on your shoulder

He also said the following (though too verbose for the soundboard):

• Leave yourself at the door. Leave your ego at the door.
• Listen to the answer because the answer can often give you the next question.
• Remember, it is your baby. You're controlling the interview, not the guest.

When applied with a UX mentality, it's WE who are controlling the EXPERIENCE, not the user.
